Proverbs 31:22

I am always a little late to the party and I've just started participating in a few BOM for the first time. I've just this past week started working on Pat Sloan's Globetrotting Mystery BOM ( http://blog.patsloan.com/2013/12/pat-sloan-globetrotting-new-free-block-of-the-month.html ).  Here is the Washington, DC, block on my design wall.  I'm really out of my comfort zone on this one. I like a ready-to-buy, all-the-fabric-coordinating-is-done-for-me kind of project because I HATE choosing fabrics. I mean, I ADORE fabric. BUT I'll have this vision in my head of what I want; then when I go to the fabric store, it all falls apart. I get overwhelmed by the choices, can't find what my vision dictates, and leave empty-handed and frustrated - or buy a charm pack or jelly roll and hope it works for something.  Anyway, for this project, I'm using what I have on hand in the quantity needed, so it will be scrappy-ish. I think it lacks in contrast, but I DON'T CARE! ...

I work with this young man's father-in-law. He was injured during active duty in Afghanistan, losing both of his legs. His story has brought a lot of perspective to my life. When I want to complain or grumble, I just think about Brian. His life will never be the same in a way that few of us can even comprehend. After looking at my Valentine's theme table runner for a while, I decided yesterday I needed to make a table runner for springtime. I used stuff I already had in my stash and a pattern at Clothilde. If you want the pattern, click on the link ASAP. They are only up for a limited time, so print it while you can. I left the tassels off and I switched up the colors a little as well as some of the instructions. Anyway, this is the finished project: I like the color combination a lot. Laikyn helped me choose which green to use for the blocks and which to use for the binding. I was torn between the two. I'm glad she liked the lighter green because I think it's lovely with the pink and the floral fabric.
